Rebuilding Lives Through Community Participation: Rupayan at MELA 2023
In May 2023, Rupayan Foundation became part of MELA (Music, Exhibition, Literature & Arts) at Heritage Park, Agartala—an event that celebrated creativity, culture, and togetherness. For Rupayan, the festival also became an opportunity to take recovery beyond treatment and into real life.
During the event, boys from Rupayan Foundation jointly ran a tea and snacks stall, interacting with visitors, managing work responsibilities, and experiencing the rhythm of everyday social life. This small stall carried a much deeper purpose—it was about confidence, dignity, and finding one’s place in society again after addiction recovery.
At Rupayan, we believe that healing does not stop with medical care or counseling. True recovery means learning to live again—to work, to communicate, and to be accepted as part of the community. Events like MELA help individuals slowly rebuild trust in themselves while reconnecting with the world outside rehabilitation.
The smiles, teamwork, and dedication shown throughout the event reflected how far these young men had come. The encouragement and warmth they received from the public served as a powerful reminder that recovery, when met with understanding and opportunity, leads to real transformation.
This initiative reflects Rupayan Foundation’s ongoing commitment to complete rehabilitation—supporting individuals not just to overcome addiction, but to move forward with confidence, purpose, and hope for a normal, meaningful life.
