Voices of Recovery: Drama Performance on International Day Against Drug Abuse 2022

On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (26 June 2022), inmates undergoing treatment at Rupayan Foundation presented a powerful drama performance that reflected the harsh realities of addiction and the hope of recovery.

Through this performance, the participants portrayed the life journey of a person trapped in substance abuse—the pain, isolation, loss, and inner conflict that addiction brings. The story then moved toward transformation, showing how timely support, treatment, and self-realisation can lead an individual back to their true, normal self.

This was more than a stage performance. It was a reflection of lived experiences. For many of the performers, the drama became a medium to express emotions that words often fail to convey—regret, struggle, courage, and finally, hope.

At Rupayan, creative expression is an important part of the healing process. Activities like drama help individuals rebuild confidence, rediscover their voice, and connect with society in meaningful ways. The performance stood as a reminder that addiction ends dreams, but recovery rebuilds lives.

The event reinforced Rupayan Foundation’s commitment to spreading awareness against drug abuse while supporting individuals on their journey toward recovery, dignity, and social reintegration.
